WHAT IS KIT-OF-PARTS?
A planning methodology whereby designers utilize the minimum number of different components necessary to support employees’ functional requirements, a kit-of-parts offers maximum flexibility; streamlines facilities management; and enables cheaper and more efficient future changes.
HNI devises two types of kits. The first, a product kit-of-parts, includes surface, storage, seating, and space-division selections. The second, a spatial kit-of-parts, utilizes modular planning to allow reconfigurations—including to other space types—within the same footprint.
